How to read these rates

The percentage you see is the starting rate. That is what you pay on normal sales.

Above a certain amount, categories behave in one of two ways. Most use a sliding scale, where the higher band only applies to the part of the sale above the line. A few, including jewelry, handbags, bullion and athletic shoes, switch the rate on the whole sale instead. The calculator on each page handles both.

Every rate is taken from the full amount the buyer paid, shipping included, plus a per-order fee of $0.30 or $0.40. Source: eBay's published selling fees. These are the rates for sellers without a Store subscription.
