Worth knowing
- At $2,000 or less the rate is 15% on the whole sale. Above $2,000 it drops to 9% on the whole sale.
Where the money goes
The thing that catches people out is not the percentage. It is what the percentage is taken from. eBay works its fee out on the full amount the buyer paid, so the shipping you charged counts too. Offering free shipping does not get around this, it just moves the same money into the item price.
There is also a fee on every order, $0.30 on orders of $10.00 or less and $0.40 on anything bigger. On a 60 dollar sale you barely notice it. On a 6 dollar sale it eats a real slice of your profit.

The rates on this page are for sellers with no Store subscription, or with a Starter Store. That covers most casual and part time resellers.
Basic, Premium, Anchor and Enterprise Store sellers pay less in many categories. In some, such as electronics and games consoles, a lot less. If you pay for a Store, check your own rate on eBay before you price from these numbers.
