Worth knowing

  • Electronics sits on the standard rate without a Store subscription. This is the category where a Basic Store pays off fastest, since Store rates in electronics drop to around 9.35%.

Where the money goes

The thing that catches people out is not the percentage. It is what the percentage is taken from. eBay works its fee out on the full amount the buyer paid, so the shipping you charged counts too. Offering free shipping does not get around this, it just moves the same money into the item price.

There is also a fee on every order, $0.30 on orders of $10.00 or less and $0.40 on anything bigger. On a 60 dollar sale you barely notice it. On a 6 dollar sale it eats a real slice of your profit.
